The Build
No electrical service at this cabin, so a wood-fired heater was the only real option, which honestly ended up being the part of the build I enjoyed most. Chimney installation is the part I'd tell anyone to hire out unless you've done it before — clearances and flashing details matter a lot for fire safety.
Heat-up takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on wood and outside temperature, longer than electric, but there's a smell and quality of heat from wood that I haven't gotten from any electric unit.
